You are probably wondering what the back-to-school season has to do with fishing for small channel fish. Well, for us at the Mario Leduc Fishing Center, it is the period of revision of the last preparations of our fishing cabins before starting the next season.
In fact, so that each winter you are received in our comfortable and cozy cottages, we must proceed to a makeover sometimes elaborate or sometimes light of some of them or even several.
First of all, at the end of each winter fishing season, all our cottages are carefully cleaned inside and the curtains and lines that were used for fishing during the eight weeks of ice fishing are removed. Afterwards, the cabins are brought back to the coast and installed on blocks until the next winter. The curtains are washed and cleaned for the start of the next season.
Once back on the shore, the cottages are inspected to see if any damage was done during the winter. For some, the floor will have to be redone while for others it will be a part of the exterior, but all will be restored to their former glory, inside and out, rest assured. There are of course recurrent works to be done in each of them without exception like repainting the stoves, repainting the floors and the shelves and poles.
Then, we will have to wash the windows inside and outside and if it was not done at the end of the previous season, we will have to make new fishing lines for our next visitors. Afterwards, the clean curtains will be reinstalled and the spaces reserved for firewood will be filled in order to assure you the desired comfort during your stay with us.
