A bit paradoxical, isn’t it?

Well, it’s just that I find it a bit odd to be publishing my blog for our Mario Leduc Fishing Center site on such a hot day. But whatever it takes, here I am today, talking to you.

In fact, writing to you in the comfort of air-conditioning is pleasant, to say the least, when outside we’re told it’s going to feel like 40 degrees Celsius.

I remember when I was young and the days were so hot that nothing could keep us from playing outside. Few families had their own swimming pools in those days, but we found ways to cool off and have fun at the same time. Some of us were lucky enough to be enrolled in day camp, which at the time was called OTJ for Organisation des Terrains de Jeux, if memory serves. It gave us a chance to meet friends we’d otherwise only see during the school year. They offered swimming lessons in the morning and open swim in the afternoon. During the afternoon free swim, all children and adults in the municipality could go to the municipal pool for fun and refreshment. On the other hand, children who didn’t want to go swimming had a monitor to play all those games kids love. We could play “handkerchief”, “sun”, etc. So many games to share with friends. At the end of the summer, a gala was organized by the instructors and the children taking part in the playgrounds, bringing the vacations to a close. So many fond memories of the summers of our youth.

Times have changed, if only in terms of the number of children we see playing outside on those hot days, as well as their games, which are often played with a joystick.

Whatever the case, things are bound to change, but one thing remains the same: children and adults alike need to be entertained all year round, winter and summer alike.

Which brings me back to my original point, because no matter how hot it gets these days, we all know we’re in for another winter.

we’re in for another winter. We also know that we’ll have another fine season of fishing for small channel fish on the Rivière Ste-Anne, which at present allows us to navigate and fish while enjoying a verdant landscape.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and take full advantage of the beauty that each season brings. Eventually, winter’s whiteness will bring back our fairytale village on ice, but for now, let’s make every moment magnificent.
