It’s been a long time since I wrote to you!

At the time of my last blog, there was still a lot of snow and we didn’t talk about spring or the sugar season, a period that I must admit I really like.

Anyway, I’m sharing with you my observations of the fishing season for small channel fish in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade which has almost ended, in fact for just over a month.

We still remember all the restrictions we had to face since that famous month of March 2020. During this last season, there was hardly any mention of it except to say how grateful people were to be able to get back to their normal lives. When you think about it, it’s no small thing, going from almost complete confinement to being completely free to come and go… Wow, it’s like a breath of fresh air that you need so much to live.

The activities were numerous as it was the 85th edition of the small fish fishing. Can you imagine that for the past 85 years, this little tomcod has been traveling from the St. Lawrence estuary to our beautiful river and back to its natural habitat; it’s quite curious nature. As I said, there were many activities and many visitors, young and old. We even had a Ferris wheel for a weekend. It was exciting despite the cold weather that prevailed during almost the 3 days the Ferris wheel was installed in our beautiful ice village. However, people were able to enjoy it anyway knowing full well that it would not be a party every weekend. Of course there will be other activities on the following weekends but the Ferris wheel is still quite exceptional.

Imagine wanting to get together with family or friends and being able to do so without restriction. This is what we experienced during the season that just ended. The songwriters around the fire while having a little hot chocolate, the volleyball tournament etc… everything was there to enhance the experience without forgetting the many activities to entertain the children.

The outfitters of the Ste-Anne River are already preparing for the next season!

On the way to the 86th edition!
