To spend a nice day and practice a winter ice fishing activity without ruining yourself, you only need very few things. In fact, the first step is to choose the outfitter you want to spend the day or evening with, depending on when you want to go. On the Ste-Anne River in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade, we are 18 outfitters operating in the same association. Once you have made your choice, you will need to know the number of people present, including children and adults, so that the outfitter can know the size of the cottage you are booking so that you can be comfortable. The cottages are not all the same size and since each outfitter is independent from its neighbor, even though we are an association, the facilities are a little different. You can even, if you wish, ask to be placed close to the skating rink to be able to supervise the children if the outfitter has one or closer to the washrooms etc… Your requests will be taken into consideration as much as possible. As we are currently in a rather particular period given the Covid 19, additional sanitary measures will be taken to ensure your safety as well as ours. Everything will be done in accordance with government requests so that no rules will be transgressed. When you arrive on site, you will be taken care of by our team who will guide you to your chalet and explain how to do so that you can make the most of this beautiful activity which is unique to our beautiful village. Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade is the world capital of small channel fish fishing. The fishing equipment is all provided from the fishing permit to the small cloths to wipe your hands. You will have to remember to bring warm linens, not to fish because you are fishing inside in a spacious and heated cottage, but to go for a short walk or to go skating. For the children, it is possible to slide and this without danger. As an affordable family winter sport, it doesn’t get any better than this. At the end of your fishing season, you can take all your catches home and as there is no quota, there are plenty of them. You will find delicious recipes on the internet to prepare this small fish of the cod family with a delicate taste and white flesh. As I write this text, the ice is starting to set on the Ste-Anne River and if the trend continues, we will soon be able to start watering to obtain the safe thickness necessary to install our beautiful village on ice. With these words, see you soon!
