Here we go, the season is underway… not without effort and delay! But who said that all the small channel fish seasons had to be the same?
The outfitters of Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade must of course deal with Mother Nature who this year envelops us with all her sweetness.
Some people who don’t particularly appreciate winter are happy about it but for our part, we need a little more cold to be able to set up our ice fishing village.
Anyway, ice fishing is a great pleasure for many people and even for the coldest ones. Here in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade, it is a fishing that can be described as “luxury fishing”. In fact, it has nothing to do with fishing in cold weather on a frozen river in a hole outside, although it also finds its fans.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the blog, our season is now launched but at this day of January, the installations of all the outfitters are not at 100%. We had to wait until it was a little colder to thicken and harden the ice to be able to put the heavier fishing cabins on it but that didn’t stop the season from starting. The landscape which rises in front of us is more and more beautiful and more and more white. We can’t tell the difference between the mainland and the frozen river anymore, the village is getting so beautiful. The skating rink is watered, the fishermen have arrived and so have the little fish for the pleasure of young and old.
On weekends or during school breaks, the games are filled with children playing and laughing; the good mood is there.
Another season that will make winter seem much shorter because here in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade, we are lucky to have small channel fish!
