Thursday, December 9, 2021, a little snow falls and adds to the snow received earlier in the week. You know the first storm that gives the children a day off because the schools are closed. Beautiful landscape, flakes falling gently in the sun, the beautiful day ahead.

This morning on LCN we start to talk about us, the outfitters of small fishes of the channels of the Ste-Anne River in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade. And here is that the new season 2021-2022 is at our doors and will open soon after Christmas.

The years follow each other but do not necessarily resemble each other. This season promises to be promising for our small municipality from both a social and economic point of view. The spin-offs of ice fishing are considerable for the merchants of Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade. Many businesses benefit from the event, including grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, general stores and accommodations. The restaurants are not to be outdone either, as visitors can even have their meal delivered directly to their cottage if they don’t feel like going there because the fishing is too good to leave their place, or simply because they didn’t feel like preparing a lunch at home. This last solution is also very pleasant. A small home-cooked meal prepared with love for a great day with family and friends.

Anyway, the preparations for this new season have started with the watering of the ice since a few days and this morning, the poles are planted to install the wires that will bring electricity to all these wonderful little fishing cottages. Our ice village will soon be part of the landscape.

To be continued…
