In principle, the opening date for small fish fishing in the ice channels is December 26th every winter. This gives families time to spend Christmas together and then dive into intense work until February. I say \u201cin principle\u201d because it\u2019s clear that in recent years, the seasons have been quite disrupted and the temperatures are no longer what they used to be. Just think about the opening of last season\u2014it rained so much in December that the ice, which was thick enough, melted on December 18th, just eight days before the scheduled start of the fishing season. So, we started the season a month late, and many of our clients either had to reschedule their ice fishing trip or simply postpone it to the following season. The fun was still there, I assure you, and everyone found their joy in the experience. We are currently in September, and with the temperatures we\u2019re experiencing these days, it\u2019s hard to imagine that fall is at our doorstep. During the day, we\u2019re reaching temperatures close to 30 degrees, not to mention the humidex factor. This wasn\u2019t common in the past. We are seeing unusual weather phenomena. This summer, we were blessed with a lot of heat, and rain was quite rare. However, when it rained, it poured. In August, for example, we received no less than 100mm of rain on two occasions, which caused floods and damaged several houses. Nature is definitely in turmoil, and we no longer know what to expect for the future. In any case, since it\u2019s difficult, if not impossible, to predict, we can only hope for a perfectly on-time start to the 2024-2025 season on the morning of Thursday, December 26th.
