We’re now looking ahead to the next season of small channel fishing in Ste-Anne-de-la-P\u00e9rade, and preparing our fishing cabins for rental.<\/p>\n
In my previous blog, I explained the work we were doing to close out our season and get our cabins ready for neat storage on the riverbank.<\/p>\n
Now that winter is over, we mustn’t think that the work is finished… If we want to maintain our reputation as a clean and welcoming outfitter, we must leave no stone unturned.<\/p>\n
In the spring, it’s time to get the firewood ready for the winter ahead, because only wood heating can give you that cozy little cottage you’ve been looking for. And I can tell you that you need wood, and you don’t want to run out.<\/p>\n
A little later in the summer, it’s time to repair any damage that may have been caused by transporting fishing huts from the coast to the ice and vice versa. Some have floors to be refinished, walls to be re-varnished or even roofs to be repaired. There may also be exterior walls to be completely redone and painted, of course. Then there’s the repainting of floors, wood-burning stoves and fishing rods, as well as checking whether the loveseat is still comfortable enough, and if not, changing it. Now it’s time to redo the lines with ropes and hooks. These, as I said, are renewed at the start of each season.<\/p>\n
Towards the end of summer or early autumn, we’ll need to wash the windows and replace the checkered curtains that give the coquettish look we love so much. At this stage, it’s time to check that nothing is missing from the cottages that will soon be occupied by you, our guests and friends.<\/p>\n
