background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The tomcod, commonly called channel fish, is actually a member of the cod family.<\/p>\n<p>Overfished cod is now endangered.\u00a0 Lovers of this fish should know that the taste of tomcod is very similar to cod and eaten fresh, it is a delight for the palate.\u00a0 In addition, you will find a significant source of Omegas.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t wonder why the people of Ste-Anne-de-la-P\u00e9rade are so alert and healthy&#8230; It&#8217;s because of the small channel fish they eat during the winter.<\/p>\n<p>Jokes aside, the people of Ste-Anne-de-la-P\u00e9rade are no more or less alert than people in other villages and towns but we can take full advantage of this abundance during the winter. \u00a0It is up to you to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>In my previous blog, I was telling you about a study conducted by biologists Mrs. \u00c9milie Paquin, Mr. Philippe Brodeur and Mr. Yves Mailhot, a retired biologist who has always had at heart the little fish of the channels, being himself a native of Ste-Anne-de-la-P\u00e9rade.\u00a0 This study consists of measuring the contribution of the Ste-Anne River spawning grounds.\u00a0 During eight weeks, samples of tomcod are collected and will be analyzed by biologists.\u00a0 Some must be females that have not yet spawned and others that have spawned.\u00a0 The same for males, respecting the quantities requested.\u00a0 The harvest began in the week of December 20, a little before the official opening of the small fish fishery in the channels, which is planned every year for December 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We will wait for the results of this research to find out the involvement of our beautiful river in the spawning of our tomcod.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243;
