The fishing huts are ready and waiting for you, dear customers and friends.
Yes, like every season, we’re giving our fishing huts a makeover, and the makeover is over. I should mention that we now call them fishing cottages, given the luxury and comfort they offer. In fact, they’re nothing like the fishing huts of our childhood, which were small and uncomfortable, but so much fun. Fishermen lined up on wooden benches or chairs and, knowing nothing else, they enjoyed themselves.
Today, our cabins can be described as cottages in terms of their size, beauty and equipment. When you enter our channel fishing cabins, it’s to spend a good, warm time.
At Centre de pêche Mario Leduc, at the end of the season, we thoroughly clean the cottages before bringing them up on shore, where they will be stored until the following season. Before reassembling them, we remove the fishing ropes, which we replace with new ones before reinstalling the cottages on the ice. We also remove the curtains, which we carefully clean and store until we reinstall them, and we empty the wood sheds. The fishing huts are set up on blocks so that they are not directly on the ground.
These are the first steps following closure when the ice-fishing season ends.
In my next blog, I’ll share with you the next steps in welcoming you to our warm and welcoming cabins, because for us, the most important thing is to provide you with an experience that you’ll enjoy repeating.
